Impress app: all you need to know. Manage teeth on the move🦷

If you're thinking about starting aligner treatment, but you're worried about the time it will take away from work to manage your check-ups throughout treatment, you don't need to worry anymore.

Impress created an app so our patients feel as comfortable as possible during their treatment. We developed the oral health management app using our own technology and AI (artificial intelligence) to help us reduce the number of visits you need while straightening your teeth with us. You can get straight teeth, without a huge impact on your lifestyle, and without compromising professional supervision.

Whether you're already a patient and want to know the first steps to using the Impress app, or you're still considering getting aligners and want more information on how the app could help you during your treatment, this article is for you.

At Impress, we want to use innovation and technology to offer patients the best service. This means a hybrid treatment model combining the benefits of digitalisation and top-tier oral health.

How to use the Impress health app 

Starting aligner treatment

After deciding to start treatment with Impress, a patient awaits the arrival of their Impress kit at home. This usually takes a few weeks, as every set of aligners is moulded and made for you.

When the kit arrives, it will contain everything you need to carry out the treatment successfully and instructions on how to download the app, as well as begin using it.

1. Downloading the Impress app to your phone

Inside the kit is a QR code that the patient can use to download the Impress app from the App Store, Google Play and the App Gallery. Once the app has been downloaded to the phone, simply log in, confirm that you have received the Impress kit and make an appointment at the clinic.

After the initial appointment, where we will prepare your smile for the aligners, a call can be scheduled with our onboarding team via the app to answer any questions and explain how to correctly carry out the oral scanning process.

2. Exploring the main menu

In the main menu of the Impress app you will find all the relevant information regarding the status of your treatment:

  • The progress line: this indicates which sets of aligners the patient has already worn, when attachments will be fitted and when IPRs will be necessary.
  • Scans: you will be able to see all the scans you have had and check the progress of your treatment.
  • Notifications: reminders of upcoming appointments and when it is time for the next follow-up scan.
  • Access to your profile: all the patient's personal information, application settings, introductory treatment videos and the most frequently asked questions for any queries you may have.
  • Chat with our orthodontists: ask our experts your questions directly.
  • Referral Program: by recommending Impress, each patient can earn up to £300 to spend on Amazon. Referrals will also get discounts on their Impress Clear orthodontic treatment.

3. Starting treatment

Once you have completed your initial visit and onboarding with our team, it’s time to indicate that you will be starting treatment in the Impress app. You must use the first aligner (the one with number 1 on the bag) and confirm it in the app, so that our team of experts receive a notification.

Treatment monitoring

The Impress app is key to the medical supervision and monitoring of treatments. Below, we will take a look at all the functions that the app offers in order to reduce clinic visits and carry out the treatment in the most efficient way possible.

4. Carrying out oral scans

Using the app, photos of the teeth can be taken and uploaded, ready for our experts to assess the progress of your treatment and indicate when to change aligners. Thanks to AI, the app also helps to detect whether the photos are of good quality and have been taken correctly, so doctors can carry out the reviews effectively.

Our team of orthodontists will review the oral scans that are uploaded to the app to monitor your treatment and assess that it is progressing correctly.

5. Changing aligners

Once the medical team reviews the scans uploaded to the Impress app and checks that the treatment is progressing as it should, the patient receives a notification in the main menu indicating that they can change aligners. This notification will state the next aligner that corresponds to the treatment and the patient must confirm the change.

It is also possible that, after reviewing the scans, the medical team indicates that the same aligners should be worn for a longer period of time, if the expected movement has not been completed. If this is the case, the patient would have to take new scans after a few days, which our orthodontists would review before specifying the next steps of the treatment.

Finally, if necessary, the medical team can contact the patient and arrange a face-to-face appointment at the nearest Impress clinic to personally examine the case if any changes are identified.

6. View the evolution of the smile

The patient will be able to view all the scans uploaded throughout the treatment and see the changes in the position of the teeth. You will be able to compare how the smile looked at the beginning with each of the different stages as the treatment progresses.

7. Chat with our orthodontists, 7 days a week

Patients will be able to get in touch with our team of orthodontists directly whenever they need to. If you have any questions or problems with your treatment, you can contact our experts without having to visit one of our clinics first, and they will respond, 7 days a week, to help you with anything you need.

8. Use the Referral Programme

The Impress treatment can be recommended to friends with a unique link. By sharing the link directly from the Impress app, friends who start their treatment will receive £300 off, and you will get £100 in Amazon vouchers once your referral becomes a patient. The more friends, the more you earn! For the third, sixth, ninth, etc. friend you invite, the value of the Amazon gift card will triple to £300. There is no limit to the number of friends you can refer!

Finishing treatment

Once the treatment has been completed, with all the necessary aligner changes, the patient will receive a notification to make their final appointment at the clinic. This is when attachments (if worn) will be removed and details will be finalised to ensure that the smile is perfectly healthy and aligned.

What are the next steps to follow?

Once the treatment with aligners has been completed, it is important to maintain the smile with retainers. By wearing retainers, further tooth movement is prevented.

After completing the treatment, if the patient decides to start an Impress retainer subscription, they can carry out follow-ups via the app in the same way as with aligners.
